The kanuma is a fundamental component to create a good aerated substrate, suitable for those CP that need moist but never soaked soil, and with an important amount of air at the root level maintaining a high hydration of the capillary spaces; it provides a slight mineral contribution and at the same time has a greater acidity of the akadama, resulting more effective for the cultivation of some carnivorous plants because it helps to maintain a ph at lower values. Negative charges esposed on its surface can sequester cations harmful to CP.
